Most city schools reopen today

Most Brooklyn schools headed back to the classroom today, but some schools remained closed due to storm damage or lack of electricity.

City officials relocated dozens of schools throughout the city in order for classes to resume. News 12 Brooklyn was told that 100 schools are closed citywide today, including 20 in Brooklyn. Some of those schools are being used as emergency shelters and are therefore incapable of opening.

Mayor Bloomberg advises parents to dress their children warmly as some of the schools opening today remain without heat.

Schools will be closed tomorrow for Election Day, and city officials are hoping students can return to their schools by Wednesday.
