Police make arrest in Williamsburg rape

Police say they have arrested the man responsible for an alleged rape in Williamsburg.

Laye Kaba, 31, was arrested on Thanksgiving and faces several charges including sex abuse, stalking and strangulation.

Police say a 23-year-old woman was talking with the suspect before he followed her into her apartment building on Kent Avenue and raped her. Part of the attack was caught on camera.

Kaba says the charges are not true, according to his girlfriend who spoke to News 12 Brooklyn. She says Kaba told her he walked the alleged victim home because she thought someone was following her. The alleged victim then propositioned him for sex, according to the suspect's girlfriend.

Police arrested Kaba at a homeless shelter where he once worked.
