App raises money for animal shelters by walking

A mobile app is helping raise money for animal shelters while promoting a healthier lifestyle.
ResQwalk was created by Bailey Schroeder. She partners with corporate sponsors who donate money to different animal rescues and shelters.
Once the free app is opened, users can select the organization they wish to support and then begin walking.
ResQwalk tracks footsteps, and donations go out based on how many people walked and how far they went. The more a person walks, the more money gets donated. New sponsors participate almost every week.
Schroeder launched the app a year ago and says this app allows busy people to embed giving into their everyday lives.
About 18,000 people use ResQwalk in the United States and Canada, a number that Schroeder says she hopes will keep rising.
