Thousands march for the Way of the Cross
Thousands of people marched over the Brooklyn Bridge for the annual Way of the Cross tradition commemorating Jesus' journey to be crucified.
For the 20th straight year, participants gathered on Good Friday for a public display of their appreciation for Jesus' sacrifice. It began with just a handful of people, but has grown each year.
Participants say the procession is also a time for reflection.
In addition, the crowd stopped at five stations along the way, including the Sept. 11 memorial at the Brooklyn Bridge.
