The guitar club at M.S. 577 is looking to expand its program.
Beau Friedlander and Tom MacDonald started the program more than a year ago, never thinking it would turn into such a popular club.
As part of the club, students are the teachers and act as mentors to other aspiring guitarists. According to the club's co-founders, when the kids started teaching one another, they realized the program could sustain a model that included peer-to-peer mentoring.
The students in the club say they enjoy being able to teach and help out their peers.
Friedlander and MacDonald are now looking to expand the program to other schools. They're also hoping to receive funding for a website where club members can post instructional videos online.
