New exhibit spotlights young special needs artists
A new exhibit at the Jewish Children's Museum is putting the spotlight on some special young artists.
"Uncovering the Artist Within," a collaboration between Friendship Circle of Brooklyn and the Bear Givers foundation, features work exclusively by children with special needs.
The goal is to nurture the artistic talents of those with special needs. Over a period of months, local artists met with the kids to teach them painting techniques.
Parents say the experience has given their children more confidence, and they're amazed at all the beautiful creations. They also hope the exhibit makes people more accepting of the special needs community.
