Mayor de Blasio to make NYCHA changes
Big changes are coming to the New York City Housing Authority.
Mayor Bill de Blasio has a new plan to tackle budget deficits and other issues within NYCHA complexes. It's called "Next Generation NYCHA."
De Blasio says that the plan will call for higher resident parking fees and an increased rate of rent collection.
The mayor also wants to lease unused land in housing projects for private residential development in order to get NYCHA out of nearly $98 million in debt.
The changes are expected to take place over a 10-year span.
