Heavy rain causes flooding on low-lying roads

June arrived Monday in Brooklyn with flooding and gloomy, damp and cool weather.

Brooklyn drivers were warned to anticipate flooding on low-lying streets after downpours overnight Sunday into Monday dropped more than 4 inches of rain.

Crews were out early on the Belt Parkway trying to drain water buildup between the Flatbush Avenue and Knapp Street exits.

Periods of overnight rain are expected to last throughout Tuesday. Temperatures are expected to rise later this week, starting with a high of 69 degrees on Wednesday.
