Prospect Park Alliance participates in annual tree count
The Prospect Park Alliance is joining the city's Parks Department to count every single street tree in the city.
Volunteers who participated in counting the trees also measured the distance between them and evaluated how healthy they are.
The data collected during the tree counting helps determine what areas of the city need more trees, improved care or stump removal.
"It's really a wonderful benefit to have very healthy street trees," said Maria Carrasco from Prospect Park Alliance.
The alliance says that it is planning on organizing a few more days of counting trees. It is still looking for volunteers to get involved.
