Powwow in Brooklyn kicks off Native American celebration

Friday kicked off a weekend celebrating Native American culture and tradition.

A powwow at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn offered dancing, singing and food. For 21 years, Native Americans from all over the hemisphere have been gathering at the powwow.

Some sold symbolic wares like feathers, traditional clothing and plastic arrows for kids.

Friday's celebration of Native American culture and tradition went on through the weekend.
