A new playground was built to ensure that the children of incarcerated parents have a space of their own to play outdoors.
Brooklyn-based nonprofit Children of Promise, NYC is behind the new Bedford-Stuyvesant play area, which aims to give kids a safe place to have fun without worrying about what's happening at home.
Founder Sharon Content says she started the organization nine years ago because she realized there are so many children who are suffering for their parents' crimes.
Volunteers say they hammered, poured cement and painted nonstop in order to finish the playground by the end of Monday.
Brooklyn Nets star Markel Brown was on hand to officially unveil the playground.
In addition to the Nets, Children of Promise teamed with KaBOOM! and Wingstop to make the playground possible.
Content says she hopes to expand the program to other communities in the city.
