Sheepshead Bay teacher wins Big Apple Award
A dance teacher at I.S. 98 in Sheepshead Bay is a Big Apple Award winner.
Nicole Kasbar is one of 12 New York City teachers honored with the award. She also received a $3,500 grant and a chance to work with city Schools Chancellor Carmen Farina.
Kasbar says she and the other winners will be sitting on the chancellor's advisory board for the next year or so.
Formally trained in dance, Kasbar mixes dance and technology to teach her students. She also uses iPads, science and English literature to inspire their choreography.
Kasbar says she wants to invest the $3,500 grant into her dance program and to provide technology like more iPads.
