Sunset Park man charged with animal abuse

A Sunset Park man has been arrested and charged with animal abuse after video appearing to depict him striking one of his dogs was posted on social media.

The video surfaced after concerned neighbors recorded Liang Zhou allegedly beating a female mastiff in the backyard of his home at 454 48th St. Police then went to the home, where four other dogs were found during an investigation.

The ASPCA says that all five dogs are now in their care and are being examined.

Police say Zhou is charged with two counts of animal abuse.
