Hundreds celebrate Giglio Festival in Williamsburg
Hundreds packed the streets of Williamsburg for the annual Giglio Festival at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish.
The tradition that celebrates Italian heritage was brought by immigrants to Brooklyn nearly 128 years ago.
The festival features music, singing and the traditional "Dancing of the Giglio and Boat."
During the dance, 300 Italian-American men carry a 72-foot, 4-ton structure to honor Saint Paulinus and Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
