Food for Thought: Sweet summer treats
Looking to indulge in a healthy summer treat? News 12's Natasha Geigel set out to find healthy options for sweet summer snacks that still satisfy.
She caught up with Steve Lender, chef and CEO of zoneManhattan.com, a healthy meal delivery service. Linder says zoneManhattan.com tries to come up with new spins on traditional snacks and desserts.
One such option is a silky chocolate mousse made with tofu. It has half the fat and two-thirds of the calories. "It's a real hit with the kids until you tell him it's tofu," Linder joked. "Don't tell them it's tofu."
Another great snack is fresh fruit such as blueberries, which are filled with antioxidants and vitamin C. Cherries and blackberries are also great summer options.
