Foster parents needed for shelter pets
A national organization is looking for help reducing the number of unwanted pets living in animal shelters in Brooklyn.
Best Friends Animal Society finds foster homes for animals living in city shelters, who might otherwise be euthanized, and they're looking for more people interested in becoming foster pet parents.
Officials say the program not only helps pets because they are given loving homes while they wait for adoption, but it also helps shelters free up space for more animals in need.
Foster parents are allowed to adopt their foster pets if they choose, but they are by no means required to.
