Bed-Stuy street named borough's 'Greenest Block'
Bainbridge Street in Bedford-Stuyvesant has been named the borough's "Greenest Block" by the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.
Hundreds from across the borough applied for the competition. They were judged on multiple factors, including variety of plants, maintenance, use of color and citizen participation.
Assemblywoman Annette Robinson, who lives on Bainbridge Street, says the title was years in the making. In past years, the block has received second place and honorable mentions.
The winners of the contest receive cash prizes and gardening tools.
