Grand Army Plaza statues get a good cleaning
Statues at the Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn got a complete makeover this week thanks to crews from the city's Parks Department.
The bronze statues at the most popular archway in Brooklyn get cleaned about every five years, so this would be a good week to check out the area.
Crews have been working since Monday on cleaning and applying protective finish to all of the statues. The plaza honors veterans of the Union Army from the Civil War.
Money for the cleanup effort comes from both private and public funds. Crews say they will be finishing up by Friday.
