2 dead, 2 hurt in pair of Brownsville shootings
Two people were killed and two others were injured in two separate shootings in Brownsville overnight.
Investigators say gunfire erupted in front of 807 Saratoga Ave. at around 8:30 p.m. Thursday. Police say 21-year-old Isaiah Cicero was shot and killed. Two other people, 20-year-old Torre Smith and 18-year-old Miles Sydney, were shot in the arm and were taken to Brookdale Hospital. Surveillance video taken on the night of the shooting captured the incident.
Police say that the shooting is believed to have been gang-related. Community advocate Tony Herbert tells News 12 that Cicero was the target of the shooting, and his friends "just got in the way."
No arrests have been made in that case.
A few hours later, shots were fired at the Howard Houses on Mother Gaston Boulevard. One man was shot in the head and was pronounced dead at Brookdale Hospital. The victim has not yet been identified.
Police say they have arrested a 22-year-old male suspect in connection with the second shooting. The weapon used has not yet been recovered.
