Classes begin for NYC public schools
Today was the first day of classes for all New York City public schools.
Officials are reminding drivers that it's illegal to go around school buses that have stop signs out.
NYC Schools Chancellor Carmen Farina visited P.S. 29 in Brooklyn Wednesday where she was once a former student, teacher and superintendent. She told News 12 that this year was her 50th start to the school year as an educator.
"This is a community school. People really care about each other...I've learned as a teacher you can't just care about your own kids. You have to care about everybody else's kids as well," said Farina.
