Landscapers debut floating garden on Gowanus Canal
Landscapers debuted a floating garden at the Gowanus Canal on Friday.
The group spent a year creating the garden with the hopes of beautifying the canal and providing habitats for native species. Designer Conor O'Brien said the group chose the canal because of its reputation of being dirty.
"We chose the Gowanus Canal because it's one of the most polluted waterways in the United States, and if we could do it here we can do it anywhere," said O'Brien.
The garden is currently anchored on the canal behind a Whole Foods, but will move to different parts of the canal throughout the year.
