Borough officials hold anti-gang violence forum
Borough President Eric Adams gathered with police and local leaders at Borough Hall Wednesday night to respond to gang violence.
High-ranking law enforcement officials, politicians, activists and members of the community are demanding an end to the recent gang violence that has been plaguing the borough.
Officials say the public was made fully aware of gang-related deaths and activity at the Town Hall forum-style briefing.
NYPD officials say they are using the platform not only to inform residents of recent trends, but to also aid them in recognizing the early signs of gang involvement. The forum also provides key details about gang culture and advice to individuals who suspect their loved ones are involved with a gang.
Officials say their primary message is to stop gang violence once and for all. They say the bigger picture is the importance of a proactive approach.
