A pair of artists hope to beautify the Gowanus Canal with a mural. Ruth Hofheimer and Julia Whitney-Barnes painted their mural along the waterfront on the side of a building owned by Dyker Lumber.

A pair of artists hope to beautify the Gowanus Canal with a mural.
Ruth Hofheimer and Julia Whitney-Barnes painted their mural along the waterfront on the side of a building owned by Dyker Lumber.
It features depictions of plants native to the area as well as industrial aspects that tie in to the surrounding neighborhood.
The mural is part of a local art initiative sponsored by Councilman Brad Lander and Arts Gowanus.
