9 N train stations close for 14-month upgrade plan

MTA officials have announced that nine Manhattan-bound N train stations will be closed for 14 months due to maintenance.
The trains will undergo much needed makeovers. MTA officials say some of the stations are over 100 years old, and they must be updated.
Over the next 14 months, the MTA says it plans on renovating platforms, fixing overpasses, putting in new stairways, upgrading announcement systems and adding new safety features.
While some commuters agree the upgrades are needed, they also say it will not be a convenient situation.
The MTA says once upgrades on the Manhattan trains are complete, they will begin working to update the Coney Island-bound trains.
Stations affected by the upgrades are: 20th Avenue, Bay Parkway, Kings Highway, Avenue U and 86th Street, 8th Avenue, Fort Hamilton Parkway, New Utrecht Avenue, and 18th Avenue.
