A volunteer day care worker was arrested Monday after being accused of molesting a 10-year-old boy, police say.
According to the Daily News, the boy told police that Manathis Anderson, 63, touched him over the pants on five different occasions in the last month.
Anderson was volunteering at Heavenly Miracle Academy Services in East New York.
The day care's owner says Anderson had been working there for the past two years, helping students with reading and writing.
He is being held on Rikers Island, with bail set at $30,000.
The day care has an 80 percent violation rate, almost double the New York City average. The center has also received multiple violations in the past, including not conducting proper background checks.
News 12 reached out to the Health Department to see how the day care was allowed to stay open with so many violations and is awaiting a response from the district attorney's office to confirm Anderson's charges.
