Woman killed by van while crossing near 65th Street in Brooklyn

A 60-year-old woman was fatally struck by a van while crossing a street in Brooklyn Wednesday.



The incident happened at New Utrecht Avenue and 65th Street around 6:20 a.m.



Police say they responded to reports of an unresponsive woman lying in the middle of the road. They say she was taken to Maimonides Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.



Police say the woman did not have the right away when she attempted to cross the street and was subsequently struck by a van traveling eastbound.



The driver stayed on the scene. Police say no charges have been filed.
