Sitcom, 20 years in the making, premieres at Williamsburg bar
Comedy fans gathered recently at a Williamsburg bar to watch the premiere of a pilot that they hope will get picked up nationally.
Daniel Lubiner started writing his sitcom 20 years ago, and now he has seen the fruits of his labors. The show, "Stand-Up Neurotica," features a New York City bartender dealing with his ex-wife, who is now a lesbian, and other colorful characters working at a comedy club.
Lubiner, a longtime special education teacher, makes a cameo appearance in the pilot. The Westchester resident says he always aspired to work in entertainment before settling down and having a family. He says it was his family that encouraged him to start writing again.
About 60 comedy fans watched the debut of "Stand-Up Neurotica" at Huckleberry Bar on Grand Street.
