Culinary incubator opens in Bed-Stuy
A new spot in the borough is bringing chefs together in a way that allows them to learn from each other and share their ideas.
Brooklyn FoodWorks opened this month in Bedford-Stuyvesant. It's a shared kitchen space that rents its facilities to small, local food companies.
Some perks of the space include 24-hour access, free dishwashing and learning from other entrepreneurs.
Karin Zouki uses the kitchen for his company called Good Bytes Box, which makes and delivers vegetarian lunch boxes to Brooklyn office buildings. He says the space induces collaboration between like-minded people in the food industry.
Currently, 40 local companies have memberships with Brooklyn FoodWorks, and the incubator still has room for about 40 more.
