Brooklyn's newest bike lane spanning Newtown Creek is officially open to the public, making it safer for pedestrians and bikers.

The idea first came about in 2012, but now many bikers and pedestrians say they are relieved because they no longer have to share space on the Pulaski Bridge.

The Department of Transportation says thousands rely on the bridge to commute, but bikers and pedestrians were forced to share the same pathway. Now, the DOT says there are separate spaces for bikers and pedestrians.

Borough President Eric Adams says this will be especially helpful with the closure of the L train. The new lanes have also been completed in time for the five-borough bike tour on Sunday.
