Police search for driver in fatal hit-and-run chain reaction crash in Canarsie
Police are continuing their search Monday for a hit-and-run driver that left one person dead and two others injured after causing a chain reaction crash with a stolen vehicle in Canarsie.
Police say a stolen Toyota 4Runner was headed west on Avenue K yesterday afternoon around 1 p.m. when it struck an oncoming Honda.
The Honda spun out onto the sidewalk, striking a 51-year-old woman and a 57-year-old man, officials say.
Police say the 51-year-old woman, Chooi Tan, died at Brookdale Hospital.
A third car also sustained damage in the chain-reaction crash.
Police say the driver and the passenger of the stolen 4Runner got out of the car and ran away.
Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
