Community garden could be uprooted by legal battle
A property rights dispute has neighbors in Bushwick worried about the fate of their community garden.
The peaceful, green space is tucked between two apartment buildings.
Garden founders say a former leader of the nonprofit group that controls the land did not have the legal authority to sell the property to a developer.
A daylong event was held Sunday to showcase the benefits of the garden. The founders say they hope the garden will stay firmly planted where it is as its legal future plays out.
In the meantime, the community garden will be open every Saturday and Sunday through the end of October.
