New comic book shop opens in Cobble Hill
After a popular Park Slope comic book shop closed down last year, two fans decided to open their own store in nearby Cobble Hill.
The owners of Mama Says Comics Rock, Cade Schreger and Davey Kourtesis, say they were inspired to open up a comic book store after Bergen Street Comics closed down last September.
"We just really liked the aesthetic they had going on, also their relationship with the community," says Schreger. "So we kind of really wanted to push those sides of the retail business of comic books and kind of emulate that a little bit."
The pair opened their shop six months later on DeGraw Street as a homage to their old favorite.
Mama Says Comics Rock offers comics from publishers like Marvel and DC, as well as a rotating roster of titles from independent artists.
The owners say they aim to cater to all types of fans.
