Nathan's Famous in Coney Island is celebrating 100 years.
Founder of the chain, Nathan Handwerker, started the company in 1916. Since then, Nathan's has been a cornerstone of Brooklyn's history.
Nathan's menu is best known for its crinkle-cut fries and its famous hot dogs, that some customers have traveled hundreds of miles for.
"I'm dying for a Nathan's hot dog," says Eliezer Mounier, who traveled from Georgia. "I'm just dying to get to New York to eat a Nathan's hot dog from Coney Island."
George Shea, host of the Nathan's hot dog eating contest, says that the secret blend of spices handed down by the founder's grandmother is what makes Nathan's hot dogs so special.
On Memorial Day weekend, Nathan's in Coney Island will be selling hot dogs for just a nickel, which was its original price in 1916.
