Brooklyn Brewery expands to Brooklyn Navy Yard
The Brooklyn Brewery is expanding to the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
The brewery will be located at Building 77 at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. The ground floor of the building will house a brand-new brewery, and a large beer garden will be located on the roof.
"We are going to be building our primary headquarters here and a 50,000-barrel brewery," says Eric Ottaway, CEO of Brooklyn Brewery.
It will join the popular Lower East Side café Russ and Daughters on the ground level.
"We couldn't pick two better tenants, two better companies to bring to the yard. These are two iconic names in the food manufacturing world nationally and certainly here in Brooklyn and New York City," says David Ehrenberg, CEO of Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation.
This is part of a $100 million investment by the city to turn Building 77 into a hub of manufacturing and jobs.
The brewery will also give the public more access into the yard, which is largely closed off.
The brewery will still keep its current Williamsburg brewing center until at least 2025. There are also plans to expand its Staten Island brewing center.
The brewery hopes to open at the Navy Yard facility in 2018.
