What's Cool at School: Students learn STEAM in Brighton Beach
Young students took big steps toward their futures with a learning expo at a Brighton Beach school that incorporates the arts into other areas of study.
Teachers, parents and students turned the gym at P.S. 253 into a science, technology, engineering, art and math, or STEAM, expo.
From botany to building a small-scale Statue of Liberty, students learned many topics.
Pre-kindergartners learned about how plants grow, first-graders learned about animals and habitats, and second-graders learned about immigration, according to Assistant Principal Lauri Casale.
Immigration lessons included writing skits about famous immigrants for "P.S. 253 TV," according to teacher Tracy Ackerman.
For students, they said it was all fun.
