Illegal parking angers NYCHA tenants who pay for spots

Some tenants at the New York Housing Authority's Bayview Houses say they're shelling out $340 a year to park in the lot outside their apartments while others are getting away with parking there for free.

Residents say they're supposed to be guaranteed a designated spot but they often find other cars that don't belong on the lot. Paying customers get windshield stickers, so they say those who park illegally are easily identifiable.

Residents complain that many cars get away with parking there without getting fined or towed.

NYCHA tells News 12 that it is working to monitor ilegally parked cars and it regrets any inconveniences caused by unauthorized vehicles.
