Police released a picture Tuesday of the woman found on a park bench with a slashed throat in Red Hook last week.

They say they hope the release will prompt witnesses to come forward with more details on the death of 51-year-old Sharon Whigham, whose body was discovered outside the Miccio Community Center at 110 West Ninth St.

Police say Whigham had a history of drug abuse, but were not sure whether that played a role in her killing.

Whigham had grown up in the area and had seven children.
