Sources: NYPD commander in corruption probe to retire
A high-ranking NYPD commander applied for early retirement Monday amid a corruption investigation, according to police sources.
It happened on the same day that Internal Affairs Bureau investigators questioned him, the sources say.
They say Deputy Inspector James Grant is also under investigation as part of a federal corruption probe into the department.
The FBI probe is looking into whether police officials accepted lavish gifts from Brooklyn business owners in exchange for favors.
