Sketch released of attempted rape suspect

Police released a composite sketch Wednesday of a man they say attempted to sexually assault a woman in Park Slope over the weekend.

It happened on May 22 around 4:30 a.m. on 2nd Street between 7th and 8th avenues.

Police say the suspect approached the 21-year-old woman from behind and groped her through her clothes. He pushed her to the ground and removed her underwear as he attempted to assault her further. The woman fought off the suspect as she yelled for help, according to investigators.

Police say the man ran into a dark-colored four-door Acura and drove westbound on 2nd Street.

He is described as a Hispanic or Indian male, 20 to 25 years old, 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet tall and between 170 and 180 pounds.

He was last seen wearing light-colored shorts and a light-colored shirt.

Anyone with information is asked to call NYPD's Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS or 1-888-57-PISTA for Spanish.
