Animal activists protest Brooklyn pigeon light show

A pigeon light show is getting a lot of attention in Brooklyn, but some local animal rights activists say the show exploits animals and puts the pigeons in danger.
Called "Fly by Night," the art exhibit involves more than 2,000 pigeons fitted with LED lights soaring over the East River. It's presented at the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
The group Animal Cruelty Exposure Fund rallied Friday night outside the show. Members claim that pigeons cannot see at night and are forced to keep flying even when they are tired, causing them to sometimes drown in the water below.
The group is calling for the show to be canceled and for the artist, Duke Riley, to be held responsible.
Riley says the group is misguided and knows little about pigeons. Meanwhile, the protesters say they will keep fighting until something is done.
