Man fatally shot before T.I. show remembered in Bed-Stuy
Friends and loved ones gathered in Bedford-Stuyvesant Saturday to remember the life of the man shot and killed before a T.I. concert at Irving Plaza just over a week ago.
Ronald McPhatter, the longtime friend and bodyguard for rapper Troy Ave, was in the green room where the shooting took place just before T.I. was to perform. Those close to the man say he died protecting Troy Ave, whose real name is Rolland Collins.
Three others, including Collins, were wounded in the shooting.
The celebration of life ceremony was held at Brown Memorial Baptist Church.
Collins pleaded not guilty to attempted murder charges. He is being held without bail and is due back in court on June 9.
