16 injured in Bushwick deck collapse

More than a dozen people were injured when a deck collapsed in Bushwick Saturday night.

Fire and EMS crews responded around 12:30 a.m. after receiving a call about the collapse on Bushwick Avenue.

News 12 is told as many as 50 people were reportedly on the deck at the time of the incident.

Officials say 14 people sustained minor injuries and two sustained more serious injuries.

All of those injured were taken to area hospitals.

The deck was attached to a building that dates back to 1889, according to the Landmarks Preservation Commission.

The Department of Buildings says a violation was issued to the building's owner for failure to maintain the deck in a safe manner.
