Boulevard Houses residents seek safe summer

Residents at the Boulevard Houses in East New York are gearing up for the summer.

They held a summer send-off celebration Thursday with food, dancing and games for children.

But the neighborhood has had a number of gun-related incidents, and anti-violence advocates behind the event say the want to promote a safe, peaceful summer.

To accomplish that, a local community center is creating new programs for children of all ages.

The programs touch on topics like film, media, leadership and career development.
