Art exhibit spotlights work by special needs kids

Works of art created by children and teens with special needs were on display this weekend at an exhibit at the Jewish Children's Museum in Crown Heights.
The artists proudly showed off their watercolors, mosaics and oil paintings to visitors.
The participants spent several sessions with local artists for help creating thir works of art.
The event was made possible by Friendship Circle, a not-for-profit group that pairs special needs kids with volunteers.
Friendship Circle Brooklyn Director Berel Majesky says the exhibit is an opportunity for young people with special needs to shine.
"Here we have an opportunity to display their artwork, their talents and abilities to the general public, and they get a chance to look around the world and see their smiles. That's what we are here for," Majesky says.
All of the works of art are for sale, with proceeds going to fund future Friendship Circle programs.
