P.S. 116 parents bring bullying concerns to DOE
Parents in Bushwick voiced their concerns about bullying at P.S. 116 during a meeting at the school.
The parents say their kids are being bullied and claim school administrators are doing nothing to solve the problem. The parents say they have even emailed the Department of Education about concerns that a lack of proper supervision and interaction with school staff have let bullying flourish at the school.
Assemblywoman Martiza Davila is urging the DOE to respond to parents' complaints.
The DOE tells News 12 Brooklyn, "We take reports of bullying very seriously. We are looking into it and will ensure parents' concerns are addressed. DOE staff will continue to work closely with the school, providing ongoing support and bringing families in as partners."
The parents say so far nothing has been done about the problem. They say all of this amounts to intimidation and neglect of students.
