Tire slashings on Lefferts Avenue put residents on high alert
A tire slashing spree in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens has residents on high alert.
Video surveillance from around 8 p.m. Friday shows a man with a backpack and beanie hat walking down Lefferts Avenue and slashing car tires.
The tires of 12 cars were slashed.
Police say the slashings occurred at the same time as Shabbat, the Jewish Sabbath. Once the residents discovered what happened to their cars after Sabbath, they called the police and filed complaints.
Officials say the hate crimes task force has been notified of the incident and the investigation is ongoing.
