Brooklyn residents flocked to cooling centers Monday to deal with another day of intense heat.
The Brooklyn Public Library's Canarsie branch was one of 500 cooling centers open at libraries and community and senior centers across the city. A magician was even on hand to keep children entertained and out of the scorching sun.
Health officials recommend heading to one the air-conditioned spaces if you don't have access to a cool environment. They urge residents to use air conditioners if available, drink plenty of fluids and wear loose, light-colored clothing covering as much of the body as possible.
Residents can go online or call 311 to find the nearest cooling center.
