Brooklyn bus stop gets city’s first bus boarder
A bus stop at Utica Avenue in Brooklyn just unveiled the country's first and only bus boarder.
According to the Department of Transportation, the bus border provides space for bus passengers to wait without blocking the sidewalk.
The DOT says it will also improve bus times because drivers will no longer have to pull into the curb and out again into the lane.
Bus boarders also can help riders board the bus more easily, especially for those with mobility issues.
The DOT says it will test out the bus boarder and if it proves successful, it plans to install it at other locations citywide.
