Business owners along a busy bus route in Crown Heights say they are excited about new parking rules in the area.
The Department of Transportation increased metered parking hours along a stretch of Nostrand Avenue after local business owners said it could increase their amount of shoppers.
The move replaces some commercial loading zones with metered parking between Empire Boulevard and Parkside Avenue, and in some spots also extends the hours when metered parking is allowed.
The DOT initially put in the loading zones and paid parking along the route in an effort to reduce illegal parking along the busy B44 Select bus route.
According to the DOT, more metered parking is the answer after finding there were under-utilized loading zones along the corridor.
