Public forum on Brooklyn Bridge Park plans to be held in September

The board of directors for the Brooklyn Bridge Park is very anxious to begin construction. It says it will hold a public forum about the park on September 19.

The board approved a draft of a plan to build an 80-acre park along the Brooklyn waterfront in July. After the forum, there will be a 30-day period for public comments. Directors will then begin to accept development bids for two different sites in the area that runs along the Manhattan Bridge and Atlantic Avenue.

Construction on the park is set to begin in 2008. However, some board members hope to begin building different pieces of the park as soon as possible.
